Priorities
Rob Price’s vision for Dunwoody is to continue to collaborate with the mayor, council, and residents to create a vibrant, community-friendly city. His current priorities and council accomplishments over the last four years include:
Continue to Provide Responsive Constituent Outreach to be available to help and listen to you.
Over the past four years this has included:
- Walking to school with parents and children to experience and develop solutions for traffic safety concerns
- Presentations on local government to scout and student groups
- Sharing updates and talking about issues with homeowners’ associations and neighborhood groups
- Meeting one on one with residents over coffee
- Talking to residents at city and community events
- Helping residents with individual issues such as noise, parking, traffic, and safety concerns
- Facilitating communications with other governmental entities to help solve problems (e.g., county water department and sanitation department)
Continue to Improve Parks and Arts Culture that gives Dunwoody a unique identity, creates public amenities and shared spaces, and fosters economic development.
Park improvements since 2022 include:
- Construction of the new Two Bridges Park
- Construction of improvements to Windward Hollow Park
- Adoption of master plans for Homecoming and Wildcat Parks
- Facilitating the location of a Vietnam War memorial at Brook Run Park
- Support for new facilities at the Dunwoody Nature Center (e.g., boardwalk, Wildcat Learning Lab)
Arts and culture improvements since 2022 include:
- Wrapping traffic light boxes with art from the city-supported storefront art competition at Dunwoody High School
- Creation of a mosaic at the intersection of Womack and Chamblee-Dunwoody roads
- Support for a mural on the Dunwoody MARTA station deck
- Installation of sculptures at Brook Run and Two Bridges parks
- Support for a planned sculpture along Chamblee Dunwoody as part of the recently completed Georgetown Gateway project
- Funding to help with the expansion of Spruill Arts Center and events put on by Create Dunwoody
Continue to Implement a More Encompassing Approach to Transportation that facilitates movement and increases safety for vehicles, pedestrians, and bikes.
Transportation improvements since 2022 include:
- Creation and implementation of a Road Safety Action Plan
- Funding for a Safe Streets program manager
- Development of a Trail Master Plan
- An update to the city’s Transportation Master Plan (ongoing in 2025)
- Construction of intersection improvements to improve traffic flow (e.g., Chamblee Dunwoody/Womack Rd.)
- Construction of new sidewalk and trail segments (e.g., Ashford Dunwoody Rd) in many cases completed with financial support from outside partners (e.g., Perimeter Community Improvement District, Atlanta Regional Commission, Georgia DOT, and federal government)
Continue to Incorporate Sustainability that improves efficiency within City operations, reduces environmental impacts, saves tax dollars, improves citizen health, and generates a competitive economic advantage in the region.
Sustainability accomplishments since 2022 include:
- Recertification in 2023 as gold level under the Atlanta Regional Commission’s green communities program.
- Funding support for household hazardous waste and e-waste collection events
- Funding support for the Front Yard Trees program to improve our streetscapes and tree canopy
- A pilot project to install solar lights in Brook Run
- An evaluation of options for the installation of solar panels on roofs of city buildings (ongoing)
Continue to Support and Promote Public Safety by providing the support and funding needed to protect the people who live in, work in and visit Dunwoody.
New Public Safety measures since 2022 include:
- Creation of a real time crime center
- Funding for a mobile surveillance trailer, a city-wide firearms discharge detection system, and a police drone
- Funding to increase the pay and staffing levels of sworn police officers
- Funding to support new staffing of public safety ambassadors and new staffing of a mental health professional
- Funding for an additional ambulance to improve EMS response times
Continue to Properly Maintain and Improve our City’s Infrastructure to protect property and enhance the quality of life.
Infrastructure accomplishments since 2022 include:
- Allocation of an additional $5 million in funding for stormwater improvements city-wide
- Construction of innovative stormwater controls at Dunwoody Nature Center
- New and planned streetscape projects (e.g., Georgetown Gateway)
Continue to Promote Economic Development through measures to improve quality of life and attract businesses and workers.
Examples include:
- Creation and implementation of the Edge City 2.0 plan to guide development of the Perimeter area
- Quality of life improvements (e.g., new park and recreational amenities, transportation improvements, ongoing arts and cultural activities)
- Support for local entrepreneurial organizations and the Perimeter Chamber of Commerce
Continue to Conduct Long-term Planning for Our Shared Future to guide Dunwoody’s growth over the next 10-20 years.
An important recent example is the development of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan. This community-informed vision of the city’s future will guide the creation of a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) in 2025 and 2026. The UDO will clean-up and overhaul the city’s development-related code (e.g., zoning, design guidelines, stormwater management) and provide the regulatory framework to allow for implementation of the Comprehensive Plan.
Continue to Advocate for Schools by supporting school programs and collaborating with school district leadership on safety measures.
Examples since 2022 include:
- Safety improvements near schools (e.g., pilot lane-closure project at Dunwoody ES, a new flashing beacon crosswalk near Chestnut ES and Peachtree MS, funding for sidewalk improvements near Peachtree MS)
- Participation in school events (e.g., reading days, career days, storefront art program, DHS youth city council)
